RUSAL says gets no notification of Deripaska’s resignation

MOSCOW, May 21 (PRIME) -- Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL has not received a notification of resignation of Oleg Deripaska, the company said in a press release on Monday.

“As at the date of this announcement, the company has not received any formal resignation from Mr. Deripaska,” RUSAL said.

On May 18, En+ Group announced resignation of Deripaska from the company’s board of directors and also said that Deripaska will be replaced by an independent director at RUSAL’s board.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies including En+ Group.

Deripaska is trying to move his company out of the sanctions list by reducing his stake to below 50% and leaving the board of directors although the U.S. Department of Treasury said it may not work.
